Kai Madison Trump is the first child of Donald Trump Jr. and his former wife, Vanessa, making her the oldest grandchild of Donald Trump’s 10 grandchildren.
Born on May 12, 2007, in New York, she was named after her maternal grandfather, Kai Ewans, a Danish jazz musician.
The story goes that Vanessa started having contractions at a charity event in the city, and Kai, excited to meet everyone, was born two weeks early — just like a real Trump!
She came in at 6 pounds and 14 ounces.
Donald Trump Jr. was really happy when he talked to People magazine from the hospital, saying, “Everyone’s great.”
As for Donald Trump, he was starting to like the idea of being a grandpa.

While Kai Trump stayed out of the spotlight in 2016, she made a much bigger impact in 2024. For instance, she was introduced by her dad and spoke at the 2024 Republican National Convention on July 17.
On the third day of the convention, Kai took the stage to tell America what her grandpa is really like.
“The media makes my grandpa seem like a different person. But I know him for who he is. He is very caring and loving. He truly wants the best for this country. And he will fight every single day to make America great again,” she said.
In her first-ever speech, Kai also mentioned that the president-elect is “just a normal grandpa.” “He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren’t looking,” the teen shared.
Kai also said that her grandpa always checks in on how his grandkids are “doing in school.” She remembered, “When I made the high honor roll, he printed it out to show his friends how proud he was of me.”
A lot of people thought that Kai made a really natural and impressive impression during her speech – but actually, she was pretty nervous, which she admitted later.
“There were a lot more people than I thought, for sure. I didn’t think it was going to be that many,” she confessed in an interview with Grant Horvat.

“It was right after he was shot, and it was the first time I’d seen him since. That was really special. Like, we both got a little teary-eyed. I’ll never forget that,” Kai said.
Shares the love of golf
Kai Trump really loves golf, and it looks like she’s following some amazing examples.
When she moved to South Florida at 13, Kai felt right at home at The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach.
This school is famous for having some golf legends, like Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman, who have sent their kids there. Plus, Charlie Woods, who is Tiger Woods’ son, is also part of the school’s golf team and helped them win a state title as a freshman.

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Miami,” Kai wrote in the caption. “I would like to thank my mom, Vanessa, and my dad, Don, for always supporting me through my journey. I would also like to thank my great team for getting me to this point.”

Kai Trump definitely spends a lot of time playing golf with her grandpa.

Well, according to Kai, things get pretty serious when it’s her against Grandpa. Talking to YouTuber Grant Horvat in July, she joked about how tough the competition is when they play together.
“It’s a tough competition,” she said with a smile, suggesting that Donald Trump isn’t the kind of grandpa who lets her win, even though she’s family!
“Honestly, he always makes it a challenge for me. It’s usually pretty close,” she said.
“It’s never really over until I win on the 15th hole. He wins most of the time. I have to admit that. I need to improve.”
