A man visiting a zoo in the Philippines climbed into a crocodile enclosure to take a selfie with the animal and ended up getting attacked by the croc as a result.
The tourist, 29, supposedly mistook the very real reptile for a statue during his visit to the zoo on 28 April, and clambered over a fence and waded through water to get close to the crocodile before pulling out his phone for a selfie.
Crowds of onlookers shouted at the man to get back out of the enclosure but he didn’t listen and as he got closer the 15ft long death machine, named Lalay, went for him.
The crocodile’s jaws snapped into his arm, with the man screaming in pain as Lalay’s teeth sunk into his flesh.
She would not let him try to escape, next sinking her teeth into his thigh and flipping him over several times as she attempted to subject the tourist to the terrifying ‘death roll’.

The tourist reportedly spent up to 30 minutes trapped in the enclosure with the crocodile at Kabug Mangrove Park and Wetlands zoo, and was only able to get out when the animal handler showed up to rescue him.
The handler is said to have slammed Lalay the crocodile over the head with a piece of cement, which helped free the tourist from her snapping jaws.
He was then given medical treatment as he had bleeding wounds and was taken to hospital where he received more than 50 stitches.
In a statement on behalf of Siay Municipal Police, Staff Sergeant Joel Sajolga said: “The tourist was walking around the area, then he saw the crocodile, which he thought was just a plastic fixture.
“He climbed the fence and entered the enclosure, and the crocodile attacked him.
“This kind of behaviour is very dangerous. Nobody should ever enter an animal’s enclosure at the zoo. He put other people’s lives at risk and he is very lucky to have survived.”

Police added that there were a number of zookeepers present, but they did not stop the 29-year-old from getting over the fence and trying to take a selfie with the reptile.
Those who saw the man jumping into the enclosure are glad he survived his ordeal, but said they ‘don’t know why he would do such a stupid thing’.
Onlooker Canete Jie said they were ‘glad the man is alive and the crocodile just let him go’, adding that the tourist’s legs weren’t broken while he was being attacked by the crocodile.
Locals who recorded the reckless stunt said the man waded through the shallow pool to pose alongside the reptile for pictures. He is understood to have mistaken Lalay for a life-size model due to how still she was.

Visitors have slammed a popular zoo in China after realising staff had put a different species in the panda enclosure to pose as the black and white creatures.
It doesn’t take a genius to work out which poor animals were roped into their impersonation plot by employees – but the illusion was only shattered for some guests when they heard the noises they started making.
I suppose, to the untrained eye, the monochrome creatures might vaguely resemble pandas… but it’s still pretty unbelievable that the unnamed zoo in Guangyuan thought they could get away with the stunt.
Hilarious shots taken by a disgruntled guest showed one of the so-called pandas soaking up the sun rays and breathing heavily with it’s tongue out, while it’s pal was seen roaming around in the shade.
And although they look ridiculously cute and appear to be sporting the white coat with sporadic black patches like the animals are supposed to, it’s immediately clear that this pair are some kind of panda parody.

But the realisation only sunk in for visitors when the fluffy balls of fur started barking, as the penny finally dropped that these supposed pandas were actually just painted dogs.
Pandas tend to huff, snort, chomp, bleat, chirp and moan, rather than barking their heads off, you see.
The imposters didn’t do bad as impromptu understudies to be fair, but guests at the Chinese zoo are said to have started demanding their money back after discovering they had been duped.
People were promised the opportunity to see a string of ‘rare and exotic animals’ at the attraction in the northeastern city.
Onlookers told how the animals started barking and panting as they observed them in their enclosure, which made them realise the creatures were in fact canines who’d had a makeover.

But the zoo doesn’t think it’s done anything wrong and insisted that it had not misled visitors, because they didn’t actually state that the animals were pandas.
The establishment instead described the twosome as ‘panda dogs’.
After being pressed by local media about the panda posers, the zoo then admitted that they had dyed a pair of Chow Chows to resemble the animals.
The dog breed from northern China is well known for it’s thick double coat of fur and lion-like mane.
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened.
The Yuanjiashan Zoo in Xichang was previously called out for trying to pass off a Golden Retriever as a lion, while Hangzhou Zoo was accused of sticking a man ‘in a bear costume’ in an enclosure.

An American tourist is feared to have been eaten by a shark while on holiday in Indonesia.
68-year-old Colleen Monfore travelled with six friends to the Pacific nation’s Pulau Reong island on 26 September for a diving holiday.
However, the South Dakota woman was dragged away by strong currents and neither her group nor her guide were able to pull her back on board the boat.
Rescue teams were sent out to try and find the 68-year-old but were called off on 3 October after eight days of searching as conditions at sea were dangerous and it as decided that there would be a low chance of finding her.
Sadly, Colleen is suspected to have been eaten by a shark after a fisherman from the neighbouring country of East Timor caught a shark on 6 October and found human remains in its belly.

The fisherman who caught the shark said: “The shark was caught but it was not in normal health. I thought it had swallowed plastic or a fishing net.
“It was cut open to find the problem and inside there were the remains of a woman.”
East Timor officials are in contact with the Indonesian coast guard and are asking for anyone who has details about people who went missing in the nearby seas.
Muhammad Saleh Goro, Head of the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) for the Management of the Alor Islands Marine Park and surrounding ocean, said: “We have coordinated with the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Dili, and the KBRI has confirmed the truth of this information.
“The body of the woman was found in a shark in Timor Leste. It was not in Indonesian territory.
“We are now investigating the case further to confirm if they are the remains of anyone reported missing in Indonesia.”

They confirmed that the human remains found in the shark had been wearing a diving suit and that more information would be released as they learned it during their investigation.
Officials said: “The anecdotal reports from Timor Leste are that the victim in the shark was foreign female.”
The identity of the victim inside the shark that was caught has not yet been confirmed.
Colleen Monfore was first reported missing by her friends, who also carried out the initial search efforts to find her.
Ipda Giovani BM Toffy, the chief of police in Southwest Maluku, said: ” We coordinated with the Nabar Village Government to mobilise residents to help search the coast facing Reong Island and conduct searches around the waters of Reong Island using long boats or speed boats, but the victim has not been found.”
